Titans new recruit Tukimihia Simpkins played a starring a role in his first game for the Tweed Seagulls as they began their 2025 campaign in style, winning 20-16 against the Pride on Saturday night.

Picking up from where he left off as the Hostplus Cup prop of the year last season, the 23-year-old got through an impressive 73 minute stint in torrential conditions at Cairns, topping the run metres with 169 alongside registering the most tackles with 30.

Tony Francis was also strong on the wing, alongside Jacob Alick-Wiencke who scored the opening try and came up with two offloads; meanwhile, Tom Weaver setup two tries in the Round 2 clash.

They'll next face the Burleigh Bears in the battle of the Gold Coast on Sunday at Pizzey Park.
