Sam Verrills will miss this Saturday's Sunshine Showdown against the Dolphins with a hip strain.

Coming off in the 76th minute against the Roosters with the complaint, scans have revealed a minor injury for the Titans hooker but he is only expected to miss this weekend's clash before returning for Round 6 against the Dragons.

In positive news, Jaimin Jolliffe is set to come back from a calf strain for Gold Coast's first Queensland derby of the year; meanwhile, the side's front rower stocks will be further bolstered with Josiah Pahulu expected to be back on field this week.

Following a series of recent heavy hits at training and suffering a category 1 concussion in the club's major trial against the Dolphins, Titans medicos have been cautious with the 20-year-old in his return to play.

The 2024 rookie of the year is expected to be included in this week's extended squad with every chance of being available to play NRL or Hostplus Cup with the Ipswich Jets.

Iszac Fa'asuamaleaui also suffered an ankle injury in action for the Tweed Seagulls in Sunday's Titans clash against the Jets - as a result, he will miss this weekend's fixtures.
