After two poor performances, Sam Verrills is keen to see a bounce back from his Titans side against the Raiders on Easter Sunday.
Speaking to the media this week, Verrills was blunt in his assessment of his side's previous two results, suggesting that there'll need to be plenty of improvement at Cbus Super Stadium if the Titans are to get the win against an in-form Canberra Raiders side.
"We've got to be a lot better because Canberra are a very good side this year," Verrills said.
"They're a tough gritty side.
"They've started really well this year, they had a really good win in Vegas and then they've travelled quite a lot and with them coming to the Goldy this weekend we need to show what we're capable of."
Verrills says he's expecting a lift in performance from the Gold Coast side, ready to bounce back on Easter Sunday.
"We need to start fast and they're (Canberra) a team that plays right until the end," he said.
"They love playing live ball and we need to control their forwards.
"We've definitely got the team to do it but we've got to start this week.
"After a disappointing couple of weeks, I'm sure Des (Hasler) will have us fired up this weekend."
The Titans welcome back captain Tino Fa'asuamaleaui from suspension for the clash, while Jojo Fifita is also due to return from injury.
Verrills says the two are welcome inclusions, but the mentality is that anyone named in the squad should be doing a job.
"Getting Tino back is huge," he said.
"We haven't had our best 17, but we've had a crew that can go out there and perform and we haven't done that recently.
"We've been pretty poor, we know that and Des has spoken about that, we've had some honest reviews.
"We just need to cut out the negative plays and play to our strengths and we haven't done that the last few weeks."
